Sol Mussa (b. 1996) is a Galician-Mozambican interdisciplinary artist based in London and Vigo. She has previously lived in Mozambique, Nicaragua and Italy, where she has completed her BA Fine Art studies at L’accademia di Brera in Milan. Sol studied a course of Visual Anthropology at Goldsmiths, before completing her MA Fine Art at Central Saint Martins in 2022. There, she has been awarded the Mona Hatoum Foundation scholarship.

With a main focus on ethnographics, she works across a variety of mediums such as painting, sculpture and filmmaking. Her practice explores marginalization within the urban space through an approximate approach, opening up a discussion about trash, hierarchies and race. The totality of the work appears to display in a public space elements that must be hidden in a private one, bringing out what is felt to be ‘the dirty’ to the clean white cube, allowing the invisible to be visible; the unvalued to be valued.

Her recent works have been presented at IKLECTIK, London; XIII Auditorio de Galicia, Santiago de Compostela, Arniches 26, Madrid; LUX, London; Lethaby Gallery, London; The Window Galleries, London; King’s College, London; FIDBA, Buenos Aires; Family Film Project, Porto; Curtocircuíto, Santiago de Compostela; S8, A Coruña.
