GABRIELA AVILA YIPTONG
Gabriela Avila Yiptong (b. 1991, Canada) is an interdisciplinary artist who has recently completed her MFA at Goldsmiths in 2023. Her practice explores socio-economic power structures and capital behind aesthetic languages of personal objects and those of private and public spaces.
With a particular interest in the emotional and psychological drive to aspire out, through or into another social sphere, her work - consisting of installation, painting, photography, and sculpture - aims to challenge these feelings by emphasising embodied elements of decay, sterility, imposed boundaries and voids inherently existing within the subject matter she engages with.
Gabriela continues to live and work in London, UK and most recently co-founded Furtherance, an artist collective and studio based in Greenwich whose aim is to evolve emerging artists' careers into the next stage while fostering a supportive community within the arts in South-East London through exhibitions, workshops and events.
